About The Event

Starting here in Fort Worth, she walked mile for mile through Arlington, Grand Prairie and Dallas until a change was made to go where she was invited to walk her prescribed 2.5 miles representing the years it took for enforcement of Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation to reach Texas and free the slaves here.

In 2016, she walked in 14 states including Washington. DC. She relaunched her campaign in 2019 and covered 7 states before COVID-19 stopped her.

This year she is asking the nation to walk with her as we live stream broadcast her efforts to reach the country with a message of Unity. She has garnered 1.5M signatures on her petition and has a goal of 3M in support of the national holiday.

Be a part of this HISTORIC DAY by following Miss Opal on her walking campaign for a National Holiday

Show the STRENGTH of coming together!
